Wondercon Exclusive Savage Dragon 145 Alternate Cover ft. President Obama

If you live or will be in the Bay Area this weekend and happen to be a fan of comic books or President Obama you'll have a chance to get an exclusive alternate Cover to Image Comic's Savage Dragon issue #145 at the Wondercon.

Creator Erik Larsen has created a alternate cover that features President Obama taking on Osama Bin Laden with The Savage Dragon and Lady Liberty in the background.

This isn't the first time that Obama has graced the cover of Savage Dragon. Last year he appeared on the cover of Savage Dragon issue #137 in which Dragon endorsed Barack and his bid for the presidency.

In addition to the Con exclusive cover Obama can be seen on another alternate cover to issue #145 that is more widely available at comic shops where Obama is seen giving Dragon a fist bump.

President Obama's appearance in comics isn't limited to appearing in The Savage Dragon. He has also recently been featured in Amazing Spider-Man issue #583 that has since seen multiple reprints of the issue with a first printing fetching upwards of $100 on ebay. Additionally Obama is set to appear in Youngblood #8.

It would appear that many comic professionals have embraced President Obama which leads me to speculate that this is only the beginning of the President making cameos in comics.

Reflection Eternal ft. Bootsy Collins-Internet Connection

Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek are back in the lab working on their follow up album to the 2000 classic "Train of thought". To get the word out on the pending new album a new song "Internet Connection" featuring funk music legend Bootsy Collins has been posted on Year of The Blacksmith.

Adriana Lima Eloped W/Marco Jaric?

Yesterday I stated that I don't necessarily make it a point to stay current with celebrity news and gossip. So imagine my surprise when a friend of mine messaged me with a quote stating that super model Adriana Lima married her long time boyfriend NBA player Marco Jaric.

After doing a brief search I found at least one report stating that Adriana and Marco did indeed elope on Valentine's Day (How cliche') and, that Adriana may be pregnant.

This further proves the theory that my friend and I came up with back in high school, if you're rich and or some what famous you can pull any beautiful woman you want, even if you look like a field mouse.

Oh Happy Day, Megan Fox...Single Again

I usually stray away from celebrity gossip because, honestly I just don't give a frog's fat ass. There are plenty of other bloggers who cover the subject of celebrity gossip so I generally avoid it. But one piece of news I read today has me and the rest of the male population jubilant.

I had originally heard this news months ago but, it apparently is just now being confirmed. According to various sources including US Weekly and E! uber babe Megan Fox has apparently called off her engagement to Brian Austin Green.

According to sources this has been a long time coming. Either way, the male population can now breathe a heavy sigh of relief as it appears that Megan wasn't ready to settle down. To celebrate this news I've put together a mini gallery of the goddess herself thus making this a unofficial Dairy Pillows Of The Day Post.

Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li Promo Clips

Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li is being labeled as a reboot to the popular game franchise's venture in movies. According to producers the goal was to make a more realistic and less campy film than it's predecessor from 1994 that stared Jean Claude Van Dam.

The early buzz is that this film is atrocious in all respects. The fact that it isn't being screened for critics isn't a good sign and doesn't help the negative buzz already surrounding it. IGN has a few short clips up and from what I've seen, the film is laughably awful.

While I don't condone the use of mood enhancing substances (ok that's a lie I do) I think it's safe to say if one were to puff the magic dragon before seeing this film it just may end up being one of the greatest comedies in cinematic history.

Street Fighter:The legend of Chun Li stars Chris Klien,Michael Clarke Duncan, Neil McDonough,Taboo of the Black eyed Peas and Smallville's Kristen Kreuk as Chun Li.

KrypotoNate Nike Foamposite Lite On ebay Fakes

It's been the most talked about shoe in the sneaker community for almost a full week now. The Nike foamposite lite's that Nate Robinson wore to win the 2009 Sprite NBA Dunk Contest has generated unprecedented hype.

Naturally, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to cash in. Case in point, a pair has surfaced on ebay. With just under 2 and a half hours remaining to bid as this writing the current high bid is at astounding $20,100.00.

Though not quite a record price for a pair of shoes sold on ebay it's still staggering to say the least. More so when you take into consideration that this particular pair is fake. Nike only produced a handful of samples including the pair Nate Robinson wore in the dunk contest, all of which are size 9s.

Not convinced these kicks are fake? Well tune into Letterman tonight as Nate will appear on the show with the actual pair that he wore in the contest. The lesson to be learned here is, if you're going to bid on something on ebay especially shoes make sure you know what you're bidding on.

UPDATE: The bidding has closed with the final bid coming in at $22,300.00

Second Update: Further proof the pair on ebay are fakes, Nate Robinson showed up for the taping of Letterman with shoes in hand.

Kangaroos Walter Payton Collection

If you were a kid growing up in the 80s chances are pretty high that you wore KangaROOS. ROOS' trademark were pockets that zipped up which made it a handy place to store money and other paraphernalia.

ROOS also produced a cleat for arguably football's greatest running back Walter "Sweetness" Payton. As part of their come back ROOS has produced a line of shoes based on the Walter Payton cleats.

Video Flashback: Shaq ft. RZA and Method Man-No Hook

By now it's no secret to you all that I spend a lot of my time wasting away looking for gems on youtube. I found what I believe to be a true classic and being that the NBA All-Star game is tomorrow it's fitting that I'd post and share it with you all.

The video is for the song "No Hook" off of Shaq's second rap album Shaq-Fu:Da return released in 1994. The track is laced with a bassline that rattles your insides and features rap legends RZA and Method Man from the famed Wu-Tang Clan.

I always find it odd when the media makes a big deal whenever Shaq raps in public as if this is something new to him. Failing to realize that he's released 5 studio albums the first of which Shaq Diesel is certified platinum. At any rate this has always been one of my favorite tracks that Shaq has done and I felt as if I won the lottery when I stumbled across this classic video.

Airwalk "The Torch" Prototypes (Retro)

The business of retro shoes has been booming for several years now and as a result more and more obscure brands are starting to make a come back. One such brand ready to return with a vengeance later this year is the classic mid80s-early90s skate brand Airwalk.

The hype over Airwalk making a come back initially started when word got out that Jeff Staple is set to design a line of airwalks for Payless shoes and that he will even apply his signature pigeon color way on at least one style.

Sure to add more fuel to the hype surrounding the latest resurgence of the skate brand is the news that clothing label The Hundreds just received a shipment of 3 size runs of Airwalk "The Torch" prototypes limited to 144 pairs each.

Whether or not this return for Airwalk will be a triumphant one or a bust remains to be seen. One thing is for certain though, these prototypes have certainly sparked some interest.

New Jordan Brand Commercial-Lead The Charge, Become A Legend

While most of the World will be consumed with the "holiday" that the greeting card and cheap chocolate companies invented, where guys are forced to buy gifts to get the same sex they got the previous night for free known as Valentine's day, for many it's also a day that marks a new beginning.

Tomorrow Jordan Brand begins a new chapter in it's historic legacy as they're set to release the next installment in the signature line with the Air Jordan 2009. Technically it's the 24th shoe in the line but, Michael felt that the logical end of the numbered signature line should be with the 2008 release which of course was the 23rd shoe in the line.

To further promote the Jordan 09 a new commerical has been released. In it we see various members of the Team Jordan Brand, Rip Hamilton, Chris Paul, Joe Johnson and Carmelo Anthony giving it their all during game time.

The Air Jordan 09 is the most technological shoe to date and despite most Jordan fans being on the fence as to whether or not they'll drop $190 on it something leads me to believe much like the initial skepticism about the XX3, the 09 will become yet another classic in the historic line.
