Tis' The Season

Yes, tis the season for caroling, gift exchanging, drinking elf semen that's passed off as "egg nog" and, making your Christmas toys have sex. It looks like DC Comics artist Ethan Van Scriver had a little down time as evident by this video he made of his Christmas toys doing things that earn them a spot on Santa's naughty list.

Special thanks to Steve from Coalminds for forwarding me this clip.

Black Dynamite Red Band Trailer

Sometimes there simply aren't enough words to sum up something that's as awesome as this trailer. I know that sounds like a cop out and like a lazy bitch move but, I simply can't come up with the words to express how awesome this is.

If you thought Undercover Brother was a great parody of the old Blackplotation flicks then I'm sure you'll love Black Dynamite staring Michael Jai White. Please be advised the following trailer contains some few choice four letter words and some glorious nudity, enjoy.

Disney's Beauty & The Beast Going 3-D

In what may seem like and odd move The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Disney is going to re-render the 1991 classic Beauty and the Beast in 3-D.

Producer Don Hahn and directors Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale the filmmakers behind the 1991 feature -- are using the film's original computer files to create a new Disney digital 3-D version, which will be released in 2010.

Re-rendering the film is expected to take 10 months and will be handled in-house at Walt Disney Feature Animation, headed by Sara Duran-Singer, senior vp worldwide post production.

"By going back to the original animation files, which have been carefully archived for 17 years, and using the separate background, effects and character animation elements, we're able to come up with a fun and unique 3-D experience for existing and new fans of the film," Hahn said.

Star Trek 90210

While many are excited about JJ Abrams new Star Trek film there are just as many who aren't excited at all. Some have gone as far as to say it looks like 90210. And I have to admit, after watching the latest trailer I kind of agree.

Happy 80th Birthday Mickey Mouse

80 years ago today Mickey Mouse made his film debut in Steamboat Willie which was the first Disney cartoon to feature synchronized sound. Steamboat Willie premiered at New York's 79th Street Theatre, and played ahead of the independent film Gang War.

Steamboat Willie was written and directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. The title is a parody of the Buster Keaton film Steamboat Bill Jr. Music for Steamboat Willie was put together by one of Disney's animators Wilfred Jackson.

It is noted in the history books as the first animated short feature film with a completely post-produced soundtrack of music, dialogue, and sound effects, although other cartoons with synchronized soundtracks had been exhibited before, notably by Max Fleischer's series Song Car-Tunes made in DeForest Phonofilm starting in May 1924.

As I watched Steamboat Willie for the first time in several years, I was stunned to see that Mickey was a bit of a prick and bullied around other animals. Which, had sparked some controversy.

A full 30 seconds of scenes of what might be considered cruelty to animals have been removed from several versions of Steamboat Willie, including Mickey pulling a cat's tail and then swinging the cat by the tail above his head, picking up a nursing sow and "playing" its babies like an accordion keyboard, and using a goose as bagpipes.

On or before October, 2008 however, Disney seems to have moved toward honoring historical accuracy by showing the original, in it's entirety, on the "Cartoon" channel offered in the rooms of Disney World resort hotels.

At any rate, the film is a classic and has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. In 1994, it was voted #13 of The 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field.

Rock Legend Mitch Mitchell Found Dead

Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience of the 1960s and the group's last surviving member, was found dead in his hotel room early Wednesday. He was 61.

Mitchell was a powerful force on the Hendrix band's 1967 debut album "Are You Experienced?" as well as the trio's albums "Electric Ladyland" and "Axis: Bold As Love." He had an explosive drumming style that can be heard in hard-charging songs such as "Fire" and "Manic Depression."

The Englishman had been drumming for the Experience Hendrix Tour, which performed Friday in Portland. It was the last stop on the West Coast part of the tour.

Hendrix died in 1970. Bass player Noel Redding died in 2003. An employee at Portland's Benson Hotel called police after discovering Mitchell's body. Erin Patrick, a deputy medical examiner, said Mitchell apparently died of natural causes. An autopsy was planned.

"He was a wonderful man, a brilliant musician and a true friend," said Janie Hendrix, chief executive of the Experience Hendrix Tour and Jimi Hendrix' stepsister. "His role in shaping the sound of the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot be underestimated."

Bob Merlis, a spokesman for the tour, said Mitchell had stayed in Portland for a four-day vacation and planned to leave Wednesday. "It was a devastating surprise," Merlis said. "Nobody drummed like he did." He said he saw Mitchell perform two weeks ago in Los Angeles, and the drummer appeared to be healthy and upbeat.

Merlis said the tour was designed to bring together veteran musicians who had known Hendrix — like Mitchell — and younger artists, such as Grammy-nominated winner Jonny Lang, who have been influenced by him.

Blues-rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who is 31 and was part of the tour, said Mitchell was to the drums what Hendrix was to the guitar. "Today many of us have lost a dear friend, and the world has lost a rock n' roll hero," he said.

Mitchell was a one-of-a-kind drummer whose "jazz-tinged" style was influenced by Max Roach and Elvin Jones, Merlis said. The work was a vital part of both the Jimi Hendrix Experience in the 1960s and the Experience Hendrix Tour that ended last week, he said.

"If Jimi Hendrix were still alive," Merlis said, "he would have acknowledged that." During his career Mitchell played with the best in the business — not just Hendrix, but also Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Keith Richards, Jack Bruce, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters and others.

Mitchell performed with Hendrix and Redding at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, the U.S. debut of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He also was member of a later version of the band that performed the closing set of the Woodstock Festival in August 1969 — where Hendrix played a psychedelic version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the band launched into "Purple Haze."

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1992. According to the Hall of Fame, Mitchell was born July 9, 1947, in Ealing, England. Terry Stewart, chief executive of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, said Mitchell transformed his instrument from a "strictly percussive element to a lead instrument."

"His interplay with Jimi Hendrix's guitar on songs like 'Fire' is truly amazing," Stewart said Wednesday. "Mitch Mitchell had a massive influence on rock 'n' roll drumming and took it to new heights."

Hendrix, Redding and Mitchell held their first rehearsal in October 1966, according to the Hall of Fame's Web site. In an interview last month with the Boston Herald, Mitchell said he met Hendrix "in this sleazy little club." "We did some Chuck Berry and took it from there," Mitchell told the newspaper. "I suppose it worked."

Hollwood Set To Destroy Another Classic With Remake Of The Karate Kid

What was once just a rumor is now going to become a reality. As Variety is reporting that Colombia Pictures is going ahead with plans to relaunch the classic Karate Kid franchise staring Will Smith's youngest son Jaden.

The film will be produced by Jerry Weintraub who launched the original franchise with a script written by Chris Murphy. Set to film in Beijing and other cities and other exotic locals. The film isn't being tabbed as a remake but more so as a redo promising to take elements from the original film.

Either way you look at it, this is yet another sign that Hollywood is running out of original ideas.

This Is The Best Thing Brett Ratner Has Ever Directed

It doesn't take much to amuse me. The mere sight of boobies is enough to cause me to giggle like a Japanese school girl.

So, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that I found the following video of Michael Jackson dancing in the backseat of a vehicle while Brett Ratner sits up front doing his usual great job of directing beyond amusing.

The Real Reason Terrence Howard Was Replaced In Iron Man?

According to Entertainment Weekly, which relies on anonymous sources such as “those with intimate knowledge of the situation,” the reasons for Howard’s departure predate his reported “difficult behavior” on the set: He was not only the first actor signed on to Iron Man, but the highest paid.

Yes, Howard made more than star Robert Downey Jr. and co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges. And once the cast came together, it was too late to renegotiate Howard’s contract.

EW also reports that, “according to one source,” director Jon Favreau and the producers were uhappy with Howard’s performance — so much so that Favreau and co-writer Justin Theroux planned to minimize Rhodey’s part in the sequel. Learning of the reduced role, Marvel Studios reportedly went to Howard’s agents with a commensurate salary — “amounting to “somewhere between a 50 and 80 percent pay cut” — closer to what the supporting cast was paid for the first movie.

EW notes that it’s unclear which side walked away first. However, the result was Marvel replacing Howard with Don Cheadle, who signed on for Iron Man 2 and “subsequent installments of the Iron Man franchise,” plus The Avengers.

Russell Brand in POTC 4?

The Dailymail is reporting on Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) joining the recently announced Pirates 4 movie as Jack Sparrow's younger brother.

Russell Brand left Britain in disgrace, but less than a week after resigning from his BBC Radio 2 show his career appears to have recovered.

Brand is reportedly thrashing out a deal to appear in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film - as Captain Jack Sparrow's younger brother Jonathan. The deal to appear in the children's film could be worth as much as £5million and would catapult the 33-year-old into the Hollywood A-list.

Vote For Lando Clarissian

Yes We Can...

Tomorrow America has a chance to make history. For the first time in this Nation's history a black man could be elected President. And for many that's scary. Why that is the case is beyond me. If people looked past skin color and actually took a look at the candidates agenda's and plans they would see that under Obama's plan we have a chance to prosper again.

I sincerely hope that voters do the right thing tomorrow and that many don't get complacent thinking the election is in the bag. It's not. Al Gore got fucked 8 years ago due to the electoral votes. That's why I urge everyone to head out to the polls and head out early. You may not think it does but, your vote DOES count. Let's put an end to the politics that has the rest of the World hating usand turn things around and make projected History a reality.
