Today marks the 1 year anniversary where actress/activist Hayden Panettiere along with several other protesters traveled to Japan and confronted Japanese fishermen who were killing whales and dolphins for commercial purposes.
Hayden has been arguably the biggest celebrity to speak out on commercial whaling and the biggest supporter of The Whaleman Foundation. Several months ago I contacted The Whaleman Foundation on Myspace and suggested to them that they join a site that I've been a member of for over a year now.
The site is Social Vibe which is a ground breaking site that allows it's users to be sponsored by various brand name companies such as Coca-Cola, Nike, Mac and Juicy Couture. And in return raise money for a Charity of their choice by placing a badge of their sponsor(s) on their social networking site.
Whether it be on Myspace, Facebook or even blogger just by placing the badges on your page(s) you are doing good by helping out those that need help. Well, to my surprise last week when I logged in I was hit in the face with a large graphic of Hayden's face on the front page of Social Vibe.
It looks like The Whaleman Foundation heard my voice and took my suggestion to team up with Social Vibe to further their cause by raising more money and getting the word out to a larger audience on just why it's so important to save Whales and Dolphins.
Joining up with Social Vibe wasn't enough for Hayden and The Whaleman Foundation. They're taking it one step further by attempting to garner 1 million signatures on a petition by June of 2009 that will then lead to Hayden Panettiere personally delivering the petition to the International Whaling Commission in an effort to end commercial whaling.
Several news outlets have caught wind of this including E!, Yahoo, People and even MTV Canada. Additionally several articles have made their way onto digg including this one and this one.
I signed the petition the day that it went up and have been trying to spread the word as much as possible. It is now that I break away from My usual posting patterns on here and directly ask my readers to join in on this cause. Simply head over to Social Vibe and sign up and then sign the petition.
It's time that we all stop sitting around and do something.
An Audi TT with British registration plates has been repeatedly caught speeding on roads in Germany. But continental speed cameras are set up for left-hand drive vehicles as a result the cameras keep missing the driver’s face.
Instead the cameras continue to capture a clear view of the Muppet Animal that the driver of the Audi has placed in the passenger seat.
German police source said: “The number plate is not enough. We need clear evidence of who is driving the vehicle too. But because this is a British vehicle we can never get a decent picture. The driver has obviously worked this out because he has placed a large puppet in the passenger seat."
“This may be an example of the famous British sense of humour but it is still dangerous driving. The driver has been caught on camera on several occasions and the puppet is on the passenger seat every time. We suspect he positions the toy deliberately before accelerating past the camera.”

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexican film directors Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron will both have voice roles in the new James Bond film "Quantum of Solace.
"Quantum" director Marc Foster tells the newspaper El Universal in an interview published Wednesday that he knows both directors and asked them to portray members of a fictional Bolivian army.
Del Toro, whose films include the "Hellboy" movies and "Pan's Labyrinth," does several voices. "Children of Men" director Cuaron will perform the speaking part of a helicopter pilot.
Parts of the movie, starring Daniel Craig, were filmed in Chile and Panama. The film opens November 14.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Giant robots are heading for Hollywood and Singapore.
A new theme-park ride based on the hit movie "Transformers" is being developed for Universal Studios, the company announced Monday.
The new rides, scheduled to debut in 2011, incorporate robotics and 3-D, high-definition technology.
Hasbro Inc. and DreamWorks Pictures are helping to create the new ride, and "Transformers" director Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg will consult on the its development, said Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive of Universal Parks & Resorts.
The ride, like the film, shows humans caught in an intergalactic war between armies of giant robots that can change into cars, planes and other technological creations.

Last night's Saturday Night Live was one of the most memorable and funniest in years. A lot of that is due to the fact that Vice President hopeful Sarah Palin finally made a guest appearance after weeks of speculation.

Fans of the Jason Bourne films based on the Robert Ludlum novels will be ecstatic to know that Universal Pictures is moving ahead with its fourth installment of the popular franchise.
The fourth installment tentatively title Bourne 4 won't be based on any of the Ludlum novels but, instead be a original story written by George Nolfi who co-wrote the Bourne Ultimatum. Director Paul Greengrass will return to direct and star Matt Damon will once again reprise his role as Jason Bourne.

In May 2007 Jean Claude Van Damme made the above teaser trailer for his upcoming film entitled JCVD in which he plays himself. The video instantly stirred buzz and now an official trailer has been released. The early buzz on JCVD is that it's really good (seriously)with many critics praising Jean Claude's performance.
The official plot synopsis of the film reads:Being Jean-Claude Van Damme is tough. Sure, he is an internationally recognized celebrity (and possibly the world’s most famous Belgian), but this star seems to have fallen from grace with a recent history of direct-to-video flicks.

It would appear that I'm not the only one who's outspoken about certain rap artist and their fashion senses these days. There's a series of videos by underground artist Japcity currently catching buzz on youtube.
In these videos Chicago artist Japcity takes not so subtle shots at a few of the industry's biggest artist for wearing flashy bright colored clothing, tight pants and carrying around purses.
While specific names aren't dropped it's clear that Lil Wayne, The Game and Kanye West among others are the artists that are being called out. At any rate, the videos are hilarious. The one here title "The Facts, Operation purse snatcher" happens to be the funniest of the lot that I've seen.
A new trailer for Transporter 3 has been released and it looks to be even more over the top than Transporter 2. In this trailer we get a better idea as to what Frank Martin's (Jason Statham) latest job is. The Transporter 3 will be in theaters November 26th.
Starting next month and continuing through December Nike will be releasing several Nike SB Dunk colorways that take inspiration from several super heroes and villains aptly titled the heroes & villains pack. Included in the pack will be a Spider-Man inspired dunk pictured above as well as colorways inspired by Batman as well as a Storm trooper.

Well, the news broke yesterday that Fila is set to retro these Grant Hill Mid's that were one of the most sought after shoes when they were first released some 12-13 years ago. Whether or not these will be a success is still up in the air as, many sneaker heads frown on Fila due to the fact Fila has produced mostly crap for the past few years.
One thing is for certain, those of us who grew up with the shoe such as myself well definitely pick up a pair. Especially knowing the shoe is going to be released at it's original retail price point of $89.99.
